I loved the book!! It was stimulating and hard for me to put down. I want to tell you that I was becoming upset toward the end and then, what a surprise! The "rite of passage" was realistic and definitely fits into rural American life. As you know, growing up in a rural area can at times not always be pleasant. This book holds the reader's interest, stimulates the mind to make a guess as to what will happen next, and concludes with a fantastic outcome. I’ve read tons of books and have grown accustomed to guessing the outcome of all plots. Yours is from the heart and experiences from living on a farm. I never saw that ending coming. Another note: You did not put in all the minute details that everyone knows (this usually bogs down readers) I am glad that you figured your reading audience was intelligent enough to understand! Your book is great and you are to be commended for an excellent job. Now, get with it and write more about Hadley, Devin, Ramon, Jacob and all the rest of the characters – I want more!!

I just finished the book...WOW. I really liked it. It was easy to read and follow. I tried to imagine the ranch and your descriptions made it easy and real. The characters were easy to visualize as well. The story line was very rich, especially for those who have experienced similar events in their communities. I'm certainly not a critic, but I think that this is a fantastic novel. You should be very pleased. When's the next one? (smile)

Whoa!! How about that ending? I had just begun the third section one night before bed. My plan was to read 25 pages or so but the last part of the book was just incredible! I couldn't stop at the end of any of those final chapters because they were so suspensful. I'm a slow reader so I was up till 2 am until I finished it. It was well worth it. You did a wonderful job on the book and I didn't see that ending comin' at all, which was nice because some books are way too predictable. I will certainly tell my friends to buy it and read it. This is a well written, exciting book that I know lots of people will enjoy reading.

I started reading “When The Levee Breaks” on Saturday morning around 7:30 with my first cup of coffee, and finished it around 2:15 that afternoon. I was starving when I finished because I couldn't put it down long enough to make me something to eat!

I just finished reading “When The Levee Breaks”. I truly enjoyed it. I am glad your web site made it to Midland. I thought your character development and plot was great. Now that my kids are teenagers I am able to read about a book a week. All too often, I can guess what is coming next in a book. I didn't in yours. Thanks for an enjoyable book. I hope you write many, many more in the future.

Great read! I would have finished it faster but I was interrupted often by laughing fits. This book brought back so many memories! So much of Alec’s words and actions remind me of own father as I was growing up. The family scenes in your book are very real. The book is terrific. You paint great pictures in the mind. I love the characters, especially Devin. And I can't wait for your next novel.

I have finished reading “When The Levee Breaks” and enjoyed it immensely. Hadley and Devin are comparable to a modern day Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. You brought them to life. Congratulations on a job well done.

I am a librarian at one of the schools where you recently spoke. The response to your book has been terrific! Both library copies are out (one being read for the 2nd time), and there are 9 on the waiting list for them. Anyway, everyone who has read it has thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the book! I especially enjoy the way you use dialog. It is so natural. The boys are real-no doubt about it. Thank you so much for coming our school to talk with us.
